Speculations and Whispers: Mayweather vs Pacquiao on Fall 2011

Mayweather vs Ortiz, come September 17, 2011, the upcoming fights between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Victor Ortiz and the continuing trilogy between the Filipino pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez which will be on November 12 will make a turning point and conclude the year which features four much-coveted and prized warriors of boxing’s ambrosia of talent in the 146-pound division.

Boxing enthusiasts view Mayweather’s stepping out of partial retirement after one year of rest as a tune-up for a prequel before taking on Pacquiao in a million-dollar match. The fact that before Pacquiao, he’s taking on Ortiz brews speculations that he’s preparing for a face-off with the Filipino champion.

“Do I want to fight Pacquiao? Absolutely,” Mayweather quoted when he was asked in one of his promo tours with Ortiz in Big Apple. Floyd on the other hand demands and insists on a random drug testing, which is somehow redundant with so many speculations before in order that he could fight Pacquiao, before the biggest fight of the decade will be realized.

In conclusion, we should all expect that Mayweather will definitely warm up to this demand. Accept the fact that he needs Pacquiao more than the Filipino fighter needs him, considering the fact that Mayweather needs the money to pay off lawyers and lawsuits; and that includes a harsh defamation case which was filed by Pacquiao from the Mayweather camp reportedly, alleging that Pacquiao uses steroids and other PEDs.

If ever the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight happens and ultimately becomes a reality in the end, it would be quoted as the fight of the century that everybody is anxious to talk about and witness. It’s not a win-win situation, it’s a winner takes it all, and that unfortunately includes the undisputed pound-for-pound title, with Pacquiao and Mayweather standing to make it at least a whopping $40 million from each gate revenues and pay-per-view proceeds.

Yet anything in boxing can happen, and nothing is impossible. How about if Ortiz and Marquez come out as winners and upset the plan of a Pacquiao vs Mayweather showdown? Ladies and gentlemen of the boxing ring, this is not even a remote possibility.

Mayweather is coming back to the ring after a year of stagnate performance, locking horns and not gloves with lawsuits and defending himself in courtrooms. He may be rusty, and Ortiz on the other hand is a bull, a fortress that’s not easy to topple down.

Ortiz’s last outing was a unanimous decision victory against Andre Berto for the Haitian – American’s World Boxing Council welterweight grail.

Can Mayweather elude the crowd out of trouble? He may run elsewhere, but when he’s inside the ring and jumping on the canvass, he is sure not to hide.

Let’s just wait and see what happens, let’s wait and see if Pretty Boy would still be as good looking and pretty after a few rounds with the seemingly street smart Ortiz.

Oddsmakers, they call themselves will surely make Ortiz and Marquez the underdogs against Mayweather and Pacquiao. Pacquiao is at his apex of success, and the smart money will no doubt bet and point out on the Filipino Ring icon. Let’s just wait and see what happens in the coming months.Watch Mayweather vs Ortiz live fight and witness whose gonna win this much awaited fight.
