Garcia says Margarito is ready to fight Pacquiao right now

Former IBF/WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KO’s) is ready to fight Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KO’s) right now, says Margarito’s trainer Robert Garcia. Margarito has been in peak condition for the past two weeks and you can see that he’s done a remarkable jobs of getting into shape quickly. It’s not as difficult for Margarito to get in peak condition compared to other fighters because he tends to keep his weight low in between fights, and he trains a much harder than other fighters do.

The only worry here for Margarito is that there’s a danger that he could have over-trained for the fight. Margarito should know enough about his own body to prevent himself from going overboard with his training. Margarito is looking to bring back his once promising boxing career and a win over Pacquiao would be a huge plus for Margarito in getting fans to forget his hand wrap scandal. I

n an article at Sky Sports, Garcia says “We’ve got two weeks left, but we could be ready tonight. He’s right where I want him physically and mentally, he says this is the best he’s ever felt. Every single day when we’re driving home in the morning after running, he tells me there’s no doubts this fight is ours. I’ve never seen him like this before.” This isn’t a good sign if your a Pacuiao fan, because if Margarito is anywhere close to the kind of condition he was in back in 2008 when he beate Miguel Cotto, he could be huge problems for Manny in this fight.

Dont let this pass. Watch Pacquiao vs Margarito Online and for sure you will be delighted with the fight since it will be full-packed with action.

Pavlik vs. Vera

Is this supposed to be a crossroads fight for Kelly? I love all the drama that’s being played out for Kelly Pavlik’s next fight against journeyman Brian Vera (17-5, 11 KO’s) on November 13th at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington. This is supposed to be a do-or-die bout for Pavlik, and one that will show what that he can still be a factor in the middleweight and/or the super middleweight division. Who are they trying to kid? Vera has lost four out of his last five fights and is about as stationary a fighter as they come.

This guy is probably the most perfect opponent for Pavlik that’s ever been set up for him. If Pavlik can’t beat this guy, then he really needs to retire. But let’s not kid ourselves, a win over Vera will prove nothing for Pavlik, other then the fact that he can beat a plodder that stands right in front of him. That’s not Pavlik’s problem. His problem is that he can’t seem to beat fighters that use any kind of movement against.

It doesn’t matter how old they are, if they use movement, Pavlik is royally screwed. And with Pavlik now kicking around the idea of moving up to the super middleweight division, where the fighters are faster, better boxers, bigger and more highly skilled than the guys that Pavlik has been facing at middleweight, he’s almost doomed. It’s nice that Pavlik’s promoter has set him up with a guy that he can actually beat, but this fight won’t prove anything other than he can beat a guy that’s lost four out of his last five fights.

I frankly can’t believe the Pavlik-Vera fight is the co-main event of a $55 pay per view fight card. That fight is a sickening mismatch, and I can’t see how boxing fans would be able to see that fight and feel like they were entertained. I don’t understand how Pavlik, coming off a loss to Sergio Martinez, is the co-main even fighter. But since they are making him the co-main event on an super expensive PPV with Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito, why didn’t they match Pavlik up with a better fighter than Vera?

I don’t care if Vera will make it interesting for a few rounds because he’ll trade with Pavlik. Vera isn’t in his league and beating this guy won’t prove anything about Pavlik, aside from the fact that he’s good at beating lesser fighters. That’s been Pavlik’s problem since he captured the WBC/WBO middleweight titles in 2007. Pavlik hasn’t fought anybody other than Martinez and Bernard Hopkins, both of which beat him badly. Why then is Pavlik being matched up with yet another soft opponent? Shouldn’t he be put in with the kind of fighter that he typically has problems with? This is a waste of a fight.

But watching Pacquiao vs Margarito Fight will be more interesting. See you there!

Edwin Valero commits suicide after murdering his wife

Many usual boxing aficionado may not have been familiar with the champ Edwin Valero prior to news of the murder of his wife and his suicide, but it was evident that behind such a ferocious boxing ability lay a man with a dark and troubled mind.

The 28-year-old boxing sensation soon to be killed himself in the early hours of Monday morning after admitting to murdering his 24-year-old wife Jennifer by stabbing her to death in their hotel room at the Inter Continental Hotel in the city of Valencia. Edwin was arrested for the murder and took his own life by hanging himself in his prison cell in Caracas using his own clothes.

As a boxing fighter Valero was never the big name he deserved to be in boxing. He really sighed to fight in the United States where big names and huge prize awaits. He was unable to obtain a boxing license in the US, the capital of the fight game, due to a motorcycle accident in 2001 in which he sustained damage to his brain after crashing at high speed without a helmet. The state of Texas was the only one which would grant him a license, but after being charged with drink driving there, Valero was refused a visa to enter the United States.

This is a sad story on boxing since many were looking forward for his next victorious quest in boxing and to soon fight with the current P4P king Manny Pacquiao.

Is Shane Mosley getting to Floyd Mayweather Jr?

Mayweather vs Mosley - “We just want to get on. I mean the fans wanna see a great fight, me and “Money” Mayweather. Let’s get this on!” says Shane Mosley one sat night in Sept of 2009. Since then something has been creeping more and more into my mind. Is it me or is Shane Mosley actually getting to Floyd Mayweather Jr?

Since that Sept day, boxing has seen one great big fight to date. The Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto bout solidified Pacquiao’s throne as king. Shane (after getting no response from Mayweather or Pacquiao for a future fight) would sign on to a later canceled fight with Andre Berto. From there let’s just fast foward to the Mosley-Mayweather.

First thing I noticed is this fight didn’t happen till the Pacquiao fight was called off by Manny Pacquiao and his promotion because of the drug testing demands by Mayweather. Regardless that’s another story. However, in my opinion, this forced Mayweather into a fight with Mosley as any other opponent would have proved Mayweather’s cowardice to boxing fans, especially since Mosley was without a dance partner at exactly the same time. Gratefully, Mayweather-Mosley contracts would get signed. Mosley would sign his part of the deal right away, while Mayweather stalled one week before signing his as well as putting a clause that called for a re-match if he lost.

But whatever, the fight was signed and now official. Hence comes the promo tour and even better than that, there first face off. But again what happens, Mayweather-Mosley get into a scuffle that clearly show Mosley as the one who was stronger and even in control of Mayweather’s own hands at one point (even dodging a punch as if it was a breeze). To me right there and then one thing was very clear, Mayweather would not be taunting and bullying this opponent like he did so many others, and more importantly Mayweather knew it. Now, Mayweather has said everything he can about Mosley (from past PED use to how Mosley dresses, etc) and yet all Mosley does is speak calm, cool, collected and with confidence, repeating the words, “May 1st will be Mayweather’s first loss!”

I’ll never forget how pissed off Mayweather seemed on the 24/7 show when talking about how Mosley said Mayweather told him he “wanted to be like him when he get’s up in the ranks.” In fact, I don’t think I ever seen Mayweather this intent on trying to discredit his opponent bitterly than this 24/7 (and its only been 1 episode!). Again, Mosley just seems calm and collected,”Let him say whatever he wants, just get in the ring May 1st, that’s all I want”.

Something is brewing and I honestly feel we as fans are in for probably one of the biggest moments in boxing history. Who r u picking? I dont think so! Forget what you heard about age, speed, power, etc. Mosley is ready and more focused than I ever seen, and to me Mayweather looks to be a lil nervous than usual. My prediction, May 1st will be Mayweather’s first LOSS!

Mayweather versus Mosley Rivalry

Watch Mayweather vs Mosley - Along with many other professional or Olympic athletes, Mosley has been connected to the BALCO Labs steroid scandal. It is perhaps just right to undergo him and his rival Mayweather with such random tests. Jeff Novitzky, a lead investigator on the BALCO case, reported that documents seized from the lab show that Mosley received "the clear" and "the cream", both designer steroids. Shane Mosley reportedly began his doping regimen prior to his past 2003 bout with De La Hoya, a match that he won due in part to his strong performance in the later rounds of the fight.

Although Mosley admitted that he has been using this illegal substance, he had made it for a comeback fight and still being the super fighter in boxing. May 1st, 2010 could be another quest for him to win to surpass his undefeated rival Mayweather.

The Olympic Random Drug Tests had already been rendered to both fighters and nothing was wrong with them. It is really Floyd whom is pursuing with such demand to make these random tests and made that possible match up with Pacquiao a misfortune. Huge amount of money have gone by to say NO for this Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. Both camps have their own beliefs and it should be respected of course. As a result, no mega fight will took place in the near future.
But who knows what will happen if Mosley beats up Mayweather? Or what will happen if the Mayweather-Mosley fight will not hit in PPV and ticket sales? (But I doubt) Will Mayweather be forced to take the fight just for the money? If Mosley ain’t getting much money, then for sure Pacquiao will.

Watch Mayweather vs Mosley Fight Online to backup these crazy talks that we are hearing. The real talk is on the ring. If you are beaten by somebody then it is something to look on. Who R U Picking?

Watch Bernard Hopkins vs Roy Jones Fight April 3, 2010

Update: Bernaard hopkins wins in a unanimous decision

NEXT: Mayweather vs Mosley Fight

This April 3rd clash involving aging stars Bernard Hopkins (50-5-1, 32 KO’s) and Roy Jones Jr. (54-6, 40 KO’s), is splendidly has very little buzz about this fight among boxing internet sites. It sounded that the fight isn’t happening at all since very little is being said about the fight. Luck of popularity it may seems. Being popular as these two fighters were in the past, it’s categorical amazing to see how little attention the fight is getting in the media plus the fact that the cost of the fight is as high as watching one of the Pay per view bouts for stars like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Yes folks! The Hopkins-Jones fight will cost PPV viewers as much as $49.95 to see it. It is normally matches of a champion against a top contender to spend this amount. Is it fair to have this one since we haven’t seen these two fighters box these days? I hope that they will give a fair fight to give fans a reliving aura in paying and watching for this one.

Oh it’s been 17 years ago since the last time Hopkins and Jones fought, and that fight I think was not exactly a thrilling bout to watch at all. You will see that Jones injures his right hand early in the bout, and had to fight with frequently his left from the 2nd round till 12. Of course Jones showed brilliant hand speed and moved well in the fight to keep out of the way of Hopkins. Then again, Roy Jones was able to dominate their last fight.

Now you can watch Hopkins vs Jones Fight and see how interesting is it to see what kind of PPV numbers the second fight between them brings in? Probably it wont make huge one since the fight has luck of attention specially the power of the media to bring it to the public. But who knows? I do hope they have both fans still that help them boost these numbers to help them uplift their fight records.

Some boxing fans would like nothing better for Roy Jones to stop boxing, and feel that he’s going to be beaten by Hopkins this April 3rd. Watch Hopkins vs Jones 2 Fight Online the rivals.

Update: Congrats Bernard...next is Mayweather vs Mosley.

Mayweather and Mosley Traded Words Face To Face on HBO

Mayweather vs Mosley - To further hype their welterweight mega-fight on May 1 in Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and WBA champion Shane Mosley sat down with HBO's Max Kellerman to tape a face to face segment where both fighters would speak on a variety of topics from their decade long rivalry.

Kellerman brought up last September's verbal confrontation between the fighters, which took place when Mosley entered the ring after Mayweather won a decision over Juan Manuel Marquez.

"When it got crazy in the ring. I told them 'I'm not the matchmaker, I'm not the matchmaker. Eventually I will make it happen.' Everything takes time and I'm happy that we're facing each other on May 1st," Mayweather said.

Kellerman brought out a magazine from 1999, where Mayweather and Mosley were featured on the cover and the title of the cover page said "who is the future of boxing?" Kellerman asked Mosley for his opinion on why Mayweather, between the two of them, went on to become such a mega-star. Mosley thinks it's a combination of Mayweather's mouth and his skills.

"He has the gift of gab and he really talks a lot of smack. I have to give it to him because he's been backing it up and beating these guys down," Mosley said."When I get in there you are going to feel me. You are going to feel every bit of me."

Mayweather answered back - "Come May 1st he's going to have to make me respect his skills."

And then Mosley cut in - "The reason I fought [Antonio] Margarito is because I wanted to become the best welterweight out there and I did that."

Mayweather hit back - "I proved that I'm the best. That's what you're here to try to do. 40 have tried and all 40 have had a gameplan. Out of the 40, some say 'oh, I hit hard, I'm super strong or I'm fast."

Mosley brought up a moment from the year 2000, when he was undefeated and one of the best pound for pound fighters in the sport. He went to Mayweather's dressing room before a fight and claims Mayweather told him 'I think you're a great fighter and I want to be just like you when I get up in the ranks.'

Mayweather jumped in - "Guess what Shane, I never wanted to be like no fighter. I wanted to be the fight Floyd Mayweather. Like I said, come May 1st you're going to have to make me respect your fighting skills."

Mosley - "And I will."

Mayweather - "But you're going to have to show me."

Mosley - "I'm going to show you and everybody else around."

Mayweather - "You're going to have to show me. You don't have to show them, you have to show me."

Mosley - "You're going to find out too."

Mosley was asked for his opinion on Manny Pacquiao turning him down, while Mayweather agreed to fight him.

"I realized one thing. He fights for money. He wants to be the best but he wants to make sure the money and the check is in there. He wants to fight the best guy. Pacquiao didn't fight him so he fights me, the next best guy with the biggest paycheck," Mosley said.

Mayweather answered to Mosley's claims -"Who wants a million dollar face with a few dollars in their pockets. People don't know what I went through in life. My mother was on drugs. I never had a stable home. My dad went to prison. I want my kids to have something. Like I said before, when it's all said and done - all belts do is collect dust."

Kellerman asked Mayweather for his opinion on Mosley's win over Margarito.

"I was glad he won because he's a black American and I'm a black American. Of course I rooted him on, I wanted him to win," Mayweather said.

Kellerman asked Mosley for his thoughts on how a fighter can beat Mayweather.

"He gets in there and razzle dazzles and potshots these fighters. They run trying to bully him. And they don't realize that he's been doing this all his life. My style is versatile. I can box when I want to. I can punch when I want to. I can go toe to toe or whatever. That's what makes me difficult. I can hit you with either hand. So you really have to figure out what I'm going to do," Mosley said.

Mayweather later said: "Who wouldn't want to put Mosley on their resume. May 1st, I'm going to be the same Floyd Mayweather."

Mosley said - "May 1st is going to symbolize Mayweather's first loss."

And Mayweather said - "He's a fighter, he's supposed to say that, but guess what - there is no blueprint on how to beat me."

Ten Days more before Pacquiao-Clottey and everyone is talking about Mayweather-Mosley

It's been a while and the Pacquiao vs Clottey Fight is happening at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. It is barely ten days from now and this most waited event will come into action. This is the battle for WBO Welterweight title which Manny Pacquiao is defending to Joshua Clottey.

After this fight it will be Mayweather and Mosley who will conquer the news in any point. Read the related article below about this upcoming Pacquiao-Clottey and Mayweather-Mosley.

In case people haven’t noticed, there’s a little over a week to go before the Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey fight and everyone is talking about the May 1st fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley. If it wasn’t so sad it would be hilarious. The Mayweather fight won’t be taking place for months, yet it’s all that’s being talked about. I know there’s a lesson in here somewhere. The Mayweather vs. Mosley fight is a true super fight, whereas the Pacquiao-Clottey is just a mismatch any way you look it.

And to think that fight is going to be taking place in the huge Dallas Cowboy Stadium. You got a huge stadium for a mismatch fight. I don’t how they could even sell this fight. Clottey is someone that few people have heard of, and this is what happens when you take on a small named fighter instead of standing up going for Mayweather or Shane Mosley. Read More...
From this point we have to project on which event is more popular and more delightful to boxing fanatics. Watch Pacquiao vs Clottey Online Free to witness this bout full of exciting action.

Joshua Clottey vs Antonio Margarito

Antonio Margarito have retained his WBO Welterweight title by defeating Joshua Clottey via unanimous decision.

Clottey have done his part but I guess he is underrated and has not considered to win the title. Both fighters can box althrough out round 15 but as the bell rung for the last round, both fighters were expecting to win and many believed that this was also an unfair call for Clottey.

Now it is his chance to prove that he can deny Pacquiao on their fight ( Pacquiao vs Clottey: The Event) this March 13, 2010 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Beating Pacquiao could mean huge victory and losing to Pacquiao is just a normal fight for this fighter from Ghana but is living and fighting out of Bronx, New York.

Possible fight of Valero vs Lamont Peterson in June or July

World Boxing Council lightweight champion Edwin Valero (27-0, 27 KO’s) will be moving up in weight and facing light welterweight contender Lamont Peterson (27-1, 13 KO"s) in either June or July. Both Valero and Bradley fight for Top Rank, so putting this fight together will not create a problem. Valero, 28, wants to move up in weight to get his feet wet to see how he does against light welterweights.

If this 28 year old Valero does well, he could possibly stay at this weight class, which would help him in the future get a shot against WBO welterweight champion and pound for pound king Pacquiao. Peterson, 5’9”, is coming off a lopsided 12 round decision loss to WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley last December. Peterson was too slow to compete with the much quicker Bradley and was hurt a couple times in the fight.

Pairing the 5’7” Valero, Peterson might do a lot better. Valero is not that quick as Bradley and not as good on the inside either. Peterson could make it very tough for Valero and possibly cause an upset if he can focus to boxing Valero and not get caught in any brawls with him.

Edwin Valero recently defeated WBC lightweight interim champion Antonio DeMarco by a 9th round stoppage earlier this month. Valero’s power was too much for DeMarco to deal with, as he wore the younger fighter down with heavy shots. Surprisingly, Valero showed good movement, hand speed and boxing ability in controlling the fight and making DeMarco miss with many of his shots.

Arum says "We don’t know how Valero can handle a really good boxer like Peterson, and we don’t know if Valero can handle the extra weight. And as far as Peterson is concerned, you just look at a picture of Valero, and if it was me, I wouldn’t be going within a hundred feet of him. He looks terrifying."

Donaire aims for Darchinyan’s titles after Pinoy Power 3 KO

MANILA, Philippines - Nonito “the Filipino Flash” Donaire, Jr. churned out a 3rd round knockout victory over Mexican Manuel “Chango” Vargas in Saturday’s (Sunday in Manila) Pinoy Power 3/Latin Fury 13 event at the Las Vegas Hilton.

The 27-year-old World Boxing Association (WBA) interim super flyweight champion sent Vargas to the canvass at 1:40 in Round 3 with a might left uppercut. Donaire retained his title and improved his record to 23-1 (15 KOs).

He said of his opponent in a post-fight interview: “I felt that he could not back me up when I throw my jab. He could have pressured me then made it a different game cuz i would have boxed a little bit but in the last round we figured him out. My corner was telling me ‘Relax, you’re too stiff.’”

When he finally calmed down, Donaire said he did what he exactly did in the gym.

“I used my right, I used my left, side to side and I did everything that I can to make him confused and he did not know where I was,” he said of Vargas, who now has a record of 26-5-1 (11 KOs).

Donaire landed 35 out of the 106 punches thrown while Vargas merely landed 4 out of 45 punches.

The 28-year-old Mexican was a late replacement for compatriot Gerson “El Nene” Guerrero, who was declared out of the Pinoy Power 3/Latin Fury 3 main event after failing an eye exam due to a detached retina.

Donaire said it the main event shakeup was no problem for him because he has a blueprint for Mexican fighters in his head.

“And he was pretty much the same thing, you know, the jab would go over the hook,” he added.

“I went side to side. I led him with the jab so he thinks I will go the other way but I was on the right side then I’ll throw the right because he was open for it and when he thinks I was on the right side, I’m on the left side. So that’s what I did. It was just the blue print and the good guys behind me that did it.”

Filipino boxing sensation and 7-division champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao watched the event live at the Las Vegas Hilton to show support for his fellow fighters. Aside from the pound-for-pound king, fallen fighter ZC Oliveros “Z” Gorres was also at ringside.

NBA All-Star Weekend 2010

Team Dallas Mavericks will be host of  this All-Star Game for the second time in franchise history; they previously hosted the 1986 All-Star Game at their former home court, the Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas.

The venue for the game will be Cowboys Stadium on February 14, home of the National Football League's Dallas Cowboys,. On the other hand the Rookie Challenge and NBA All-Star Saturday Night events will be held on February 12 and February 13, 2010, respectively, at American Airlines Center, home of the Mavericks. This will mark the first time the All-Star events were split between two venues since 1989.

Mavericks were awarded the 2010 NBA All-Star Game in an announcement by NBA commissioner David Stern, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones last October 30, 2008.  This will be the first All-Star Game to be played in a football stadium since 1996 when San Antonio's Alamodome hosted the event.

Another great weekend will gonna be as great as the players drafted from an online poll to be included in the East and West team will play with one goal.

Floyd Mayweather Jr says ‘Age is nothing but a number’, except when it comes to Manny Pacquiao

In a recent interview, Floyd Mayweather Jr discussed how fighting an older Shane Mosley doesn’t really matter because “age is nothing but a number”. However, less than a week ago, Floyd was “up in arms” over Pacquiao becoming a better fighter after the age of 25 which was a huge reason for Floyd wanting Pacquiao to take blood tests. As usual, confusion has risen over Floyd’s conflicting statements. So, let’s examine further.

Floyd’s comments about Manny Pacquiao on February 5th:
“You don't start off your career as average, and then after you turn 25, become extraordinary.” FMJ on the Jim Rome Show

Floyd’s comments about “The age factor” on February 9th:
“Age is really nothing but a number. Bernard Hopkins can still go in there and perform well at the age of 40. A lot of fighters late in their 30s and early in their 40s and perform well. I look at fighters all the same.” FMJ, BoxingScene.com

“Average Beginning”
Mayweather’s opinion of Pacquiao’s career being only “average” might be skewed a bit. But it’s a contradiction to his recent comments. In his recent interview, Mayweather says he “looks at fighters all the same.” But we can prove that’s not true with Mayweather’s own words. He clearly looks at Pacquiao and thinks that Pacquiao is cheating because Manny became a great fighter after 25 and he was supposedly average before then. What about Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins? They both seem to have gotten even better after the age of 35.

Louis Carter Sacramento, CA “Why does Floyd always seem to contradict himself when it comes to Manny Pacquiao?” Louis, I believe because it’s a combination of a few factors. Floyd is jealous of Manny’s success, he’s pissed off that Manny walked away from his demands, and he’s a natural hypocrite. This article is just another example of Floyd’s hypocrisy.

“Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins”
So when it comes to Shane and Bernard, “age is nothing but a number”? Yet, this isn’t true with Manny because Floyd is holding onto the magical number of 25. Bernard Hopkins seems to have found the “fountain of youth” yet Mayweather doesn’t think he’s a cheater. In fact, he goes on to praise these guys for fighting well into their late 30’s and early 40’s. So, a guy who is 45 years old and still fighting competitive fights at a high level doesn’t even draw the slightest of PEDs concern from Mayweather Jr?

Janet Bradley Sacramento, CA “Do you think Mayweather Jr is just anti-Pacquiao?” I do think he is anti-Pacquiao. Most people would have more suspicion of a 45 year old, in great shape and still fighting at a higher level, than a fighter who became even better after the age of 25. I think these comments reflect how much Floyd really dislikes Manny Pacquiao.

I’d like to close this article with the following:
Luke 12:1 “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.”
Rick 12:1 “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Mayweathers, which is hypocrisy.”

Pacquiao vs Clottey at Dallas Cowboys Stadium

The Event, Pacquiao/Clottey- Ever since the Mosley/Mayweather fight became inked, many feel that Pacquiao/Clottey has now taken a back seat to Mosley/Mayweather. Well if that’s the case, I feel that the Pacmaniacs didn’t get that memo. I’m hearing that 30,000 boxing fans have already scooped up their tickets for The Event, I’m willing to bet that Cowboys Stadium will have between 45,000-60,000 in the house when it’s all said and done. I’m hearing that Pac-Man is looking great in sparring, If I am Roach, I would have Pacquiao spar against Felix Sturm. Sturm, who is now trained by Roach, has a very similar hide behind your shield style that Clottey uses.

Was Estrada Robbed?- I have yet to see the Adamek/Estrada fight that happened this weekend, from what I hear though, I am hearing that it was a close fight. How close? You tell me, I have yet to see the fight. Here is the thing, usually when boxers fight bangers, boxers tend to play it 100% safe at all times. When you are fighting a banger who may or may not have a big fight lined up against another banger, then guess what? Step on the gas son, and do not let the banger back in it. I’m not saying that this is what happened here, but most of the time this seems to be the case. You already know that bangers bring excitement, so put on an exhibition to the highest degree and slightly increase production to take some of that excitement away and turn it around in your favor. Stop thinking periods and start thinking exclamation points!!

This just in, Edwin Valero is the truth!- I have always known that Edwin Valero is a real beast. The guy comes to demolish and he honestly feels that no man can stand up to his punch. I kid you not, Valero really believes that. 2 years ago, I spoke to Joel De La Hoya[Oscar's father] after the De La Hoya/Forbes fight, I asked Joel about Edwin then, Joel told me then that he feels that no man can beat Valero, he said maybe a lion, but even then, Edwin would have a shot. I’m not going to sit here today and tell you that Valero is unbeatable, but I will however say that it’s going to take someone really special to beat Valero. I mean the guy fought with a huge gash over his head and another open cut on his eye lid with blood raining down his face, Valero still stepped it up even with all that blood in his vision. Pacquiao and Katsidis may be the only other 2 fighters that have that kind of will to win. DeMarco could have upset Valero had DeMarco stuck to that jab that kept Valero’s head going back, but may be the force of the heavy Valero shots were just too much for DeMarco to keep jabbing. Every action has a re-action, and any jab fired out would then leave that side open to then recieve 3-4 grenades. I’ll tell you what though, for fighters out there trying to make a name for themselves, if I were them, I would pursue a fight against Valero. As crazy as that sounds. I am sure that after seeing Valero in action, Showtime and HB0 will now want to air this action packed animal as much as they can. I’m hearing Katsidis wants another dance against the Baby Bull, that sounds fine and dandy and all but fighting Valero in Mexico, Australia, or Greece like some blood bath gladiators sounds better to me.

Pavlik/Martinez and Williams/Cintron- I am loving the idea of these fights, but only if Pavlik beats Martinez, which I don’t think he can. A Pavlik win would then finally put together a Pavlik/Williams clash. As much as I like Cintron’s new look under Ronnie Shields, Kermit can box from distance when he has to but he is no Sergio Martinez. I see Williams out working Kermit and beating him. As far as Pavlik goes, when Pavlik fought B-Hop, there were times that B-Hop looked too fast for Pavlik, Martinez will devour Pavlik with all that speed and put on a clinic. If Martinez beats Pavlik, and Williams beats Cintron, as much as I would want to see a rematch between Williams/Martinez, I feel that Williams and his people don’t want to get another glimpse of Martinez just yet. So the plan here is that they are hoping that Pavlik can re-surface and beat Martinez so that Pavlik/Williams becomes a reality.

Pinoy Power 3 on Feb 13, 2010

MANILA, Philippines – Four of the best Filipino boxers of the decade are set to see action in the ring next year, just 6 months after the highly successful “Pinoy Power 2” in Las Vegas, Nevada.

World Boxing Association (WBA) interim super flyweight champ Nonito Donaire, Jr. will defend his title against veteran Mexican fighter Gerson Guerrero in “Pinoy Power 3” on February 13.

The event, which features 4 Filipino boxers going against 4 Latino fighters, is also called “Latin Fury 13.” It will be held at the Hilton Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

“Confident na confident ako kasi I have everybody in my corner and mentally prepared na ako, just physically I have to be there,” said Donaire.

According to Donaire, he began training last week and has done a few sparring sessions. He said he is working hard to get ready for his opponent, who is known to be a knockout artist.

Meantime, Donaire’s new trainer, Mexican Robert Garcia, was introduced during the “Pinoy Power 3” press conference in Las Vegas.

“I just come in to correct a few things, work on the strategy and go on from there. But he is a complete fighter there’s not much too change, just a little corrections that we’re gonna do,” noted Garcia.

Second chance

Meanwhile, No. 2 World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight Gerry Peñalosa was unable to attend the press conference.

His foe, Eric Morel of Puerto Rico, had a message for the Filipino veteran boxer: “It’s my time. I believe that he is gonna come to the ring well-prepared, extremely ready for the fight. But I’ll be very, very trained and very focused as well.”

Bohol native Ciso Morales is the third Filipino featured in “Pinoy Power 3.” Morales will clash with Fernando Montiel of Mexico.

Bernabe Concepcion will take on Puerto Rican Mario Santiago in a 10-round featherweight bout.

Top Rank Promotions head honcho Bob Arum hopes that Concepcion has learned his lesson from the “Pinoy Power 2” incident wherein he punched Steven Luevano even after the bell rang. The action led to the disqualification of Concepcion.

“Bernabe didn’t hear the bell and he hit Luevano after the bell and was disqualified. But now he has the opportunity to come back against Mario Santiago, a real good Puerto Rican fighter,” said Arum.

Helping Gorres

Donaire went on to say that he is ready to help fellow boxer ZC Oliveros “The Dream” Gorres with the money he will make in “Pinoy Power 3.”

Gorres, who suffered from subdural hematoma in his fight against Colombian Juan Melendez, was supposed to be part of the “Pinoy Power 3” fight card.

However, he went down in the 10th and final round after a Melendez punch caused a blood clot in his brain. Gorres still won by unanimous decision.

The Filipino fighter has recuperated from brain surgery and is not out of the intensive care unit (ICU). He is an intermediate unit at the UMC Hospital.

“Pinoy Power 3” will be aired on ABS-CBN. – With a report from Bev Llorente, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
